In Gina’s words
The couples I do my best work with
I work well with couples who are willing to take a courageously honest look at their relationship dynamics and recognize their individual contributions to recurring patterns. I also enjoy working with couples who are receptive to building on what’s already working well in their relationship, experimenting with new ways of relating both in and outside of sessions, and working together to move beyond stuck points. Most importantly, they are committed to learning and growing together.
My style in the room
Is curious and candid, while inviting the equal engagement of both partners. I see my role as creating a space where clients can be honest, ask questions, sit with uncertainty, and be vulnerable with one another. I support this process through sessions that incorporate nervous system regulation, skill and insight building, and opportunities to practice new behaviors and ways of interacting.
Clients often tell me they appreciate…
The comfort they feel opening up with me and my balance of compassion and gentle challenging to support their growth. They also appreciate my kind directness, the tangible tools they gain, and the deeper understanding of themselves that develops through our work together. And, moments of humor along the way.
Outside the therapy room…
You’ll find me either at a museum, engaged in a creative activity, on a yoga mat, or being bossed around by my cat.
Not the right fit for
Couples whose circumstances involve anticipated court testimony, custody disputes, or other legal proceedings; active or one-sided domestic violence; an ongoing or undisclosed affair that one or both partners are unwilling to address openly in sessions; untreated severe substance dependence; or untreated severe mental health concerns or acute mental health crises. In these situations, referrals to other specialists may be better suited to meet their needs.
