In Randy’s words

The couples I do my best work with

Higher functioning couples in acute distress and/or dysfunction. Couples seeking better, albeit deeper, relations, whether to stay together or separate respectfully. Couples dealing with stepfamily concerns.

My style in the room

Very reflective and curious as we explore their concerns. I tend to become more active as the dynamics reveal themselves or the couple becomes dysregulated . I want my clients to feel understood. I also work at conveying my assessment in as clear and workable terms as possible. I want my clients to have a clear sense of how I will be thinking and working with them and the concerns they bring to my office.

Clients often tell me they appreciate…

I’m patient, validating, and also willing to lean towards, or “on” each member as I recognize their contribution to the problem. I don’t Mind making suggestions when it feels timely and useful.

Outside the therapy room…

I am Married and once divorced. Raised 2 kids with their mother and my wife, the stepmom. I love hanging with my family, our dog, going hiking and playing my mandolin and fiddle.

Not the right fit for

Clients in litigation or headed that way and looking for expert witness or someone to testify in either’s behalf.
